Wow, incredible list. We’re reading several of these in my graduate Black Feminist Thought class!

White feminists always want to know how to not be racist.  They want to be educated.  Here is the beginning of that education.  Use it.

Is there a word for that like, “bright darkness” you get in winter?? When it’s been snowing or it’s supposed to snow past sunset and the sky isn’t Dark Enough. One of my favorite things

reputayswift

Thanks to @raindropwindow and a handful of articles, it’s called snow albedo, skyglow, snowglow, or just light scattering! It’s the result of moon- or artificial light reflecting off ground snow, low clouds, or ice crystals.

Last night I had a dream I woke up to find that my house had been turned into a Smart House with every wall being a digital screen including the roof so I could see it even laying on bed and the Siri voice said “Don’t worry. You are perfectly safe in your Apple Smart Home™️” knowing I have a BIG phobia of intruders especially at night and it continued with “Let’s explore the neighborhood from the comfort of your home” so it opened google maps and accidentally zoomed past a shitty jpeg of the girl from The Ring standing outside my house and it said “ignore that”. woke up laughing

i saw some thread on xitter with some dude asking why drag queens "want to be around children so much" re: story hours and all the replies were either predictably disgusting or very defensive but not a single goddamn one of them answered the question so i will help in case anyone ever asks you this incredibly stupid question: they are clowns!! drag queens are just clowns!! they put on extremely silly makeup and huge wigs and bright clothes and do over-the-top performances that make people laugh and smile and sometimes cry. that is the definition of a clown. they like to perform for children because they are a type of clown and children are great audiences and it is not any deeper than that. god damn.

fierceawakening

Why shouldn’t adults want to be around children and do fun things like read them stories?

People should be asking themselves that first.

This weird hysterical paranoia we’ve all more or less bought into where it’s WEIRD to get excited when a small human is delightedly happy about something is… it just sucks.

Kids are great. Hanging out with them is great. If you think the only reason a grown human would do so is sexual… what thing in your life went so wrong that you think that?

Oh fuck they’re inclusive ants, too?!?

Image Descriptions

[Image 1: A Screenshot of an invitation to a Facebook group named: “A group where we all pretend to be ants in an ant colony.” Under that is a post in the group that reads: “We reached the center of the Earth. Now what?” Four people commented saying one word each in this order: scurry, dig, work, melt. These words are in capital letters and have spaces between each letter.]

[Image 2: Another Screenshot of a post in the group that reads: “It has come to my attention that when we put the spaces in-between letters it makes it difficult for visually impaired ants to know what we’re saying and so I was wondering if we could try to make this group more accessible for them. (The text to voice can’t figure out what we are saying with the spaces) (Picture of an ant for attention)” This text is then followed by a close up picture of an ant.]

[Image 3: A screenshot of some comments on the post in Image 2. Five people commented: adapt, adapt, inclusion, love adapt, adapt. These words are in capital letters and have no spaces between the letters.]

End of IDs.

Please do not reblog this post without image descriptions! The irony of sharing undescribed images that talk about inclusivity for the visually impaired is… Painful.

While at this moment this measure can be considered symbolic (the policy it repeals was rendered unenforceable by the Supreme Court in 2015, just like for the rest of the US), it assures that if Obergefell is overturned, and same-sex marriage policy localizes, the Navajo Nation will still uphold marriage equality*

*there could end up being a fight with Arizona state government in that scenario, as tribal sovereignty vs state authority is constantly fought on an issue by issue basis.

traycakes

Codifying rights into laws is not at all symbolic, activists pushed for liberals to codify abortion rights into law for decades and they never did, now look where we are.

Laws can be repealed and court cases can be overturned, it's best to have both in place to make it as hard as possible to roll back civil rights gains.

through all this trans stuff every healthcare person i’ve had to talk to has sooner or later put on their sad bastard voice and tentatively asked what’s going to happen with my ltr, and when i go “oh he’s cool with it, no worries” they do that particular little “uh-huh” that’s the polite version of oh this poor delusional dumbass etc

and like i know that transitioning torpedoes a lot of relationships but today rabbit woke up and the very first thing he said, head still on the pillow, was “if you’re going to be a guy, you’re going to get shit from other guys if you can’t do push-ups. don’t worry, i’ll show you how to do them!!” and then a moment later, eyes wide, went “oh my god. i’m going to teach you to drive stick.”

okay the prize for the funniest reaction for this particular line of questioning goes to a specialist i see for something unrelated, because when he asked “and what does your husband think of that?”, i wasn’t feeling up for getting into it and just went “well he’s bi so he doesn’t care”

and this absolutely hit him for six, and he went “and what do YOU think about THAT?!”, which caught me off guard in turn, so i said “well i am too, so… positively?”

and he just stared out the window in deep thought stroking his beard for a good ten-fifteen seconds in silence before going, contemplatively:

“i didn’t know that could happen.”

patient changing gender: well that shouldn’t interact with your medication, you’ll just need to change some paperwork, let the girls at the front desk know
